Afghan SIV Case Internship

Position Summary

This is a part time position, requiring approximately 20 hours per week. The overall goal of the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa internship is to gain an understanding of the U.S. State Department requirements for SIV.

 

This intern will help with locating and conducting outreach to Afghans’ US military supervisors, including helping obtain recommendation letters from the supervisors that can be used for visa applications. The intern will also review Afghans’ applications to ensure that their documentation meets State Departments’ requirements. The intern will also help with coordinating humanitarian aid that KANA provides to some Aghan allies awaiting review of their visa applications.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct online research to locate Afghan SIV supervisors online, including Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter based on contact information provided by the Kurdish Alliance of North America.
  • Contribute and respond to engagement online via messages and comments.
  • Assist with obtaining documentation from Afghan SIV supervisors and working with various partners to ensure that visa applications meet U.S. State Department requirements.
  • Coordinate aid distribution as instructed by the Kurdish Alliance of North America.
  • Fulfill all other duties as assigned (e.g., providing reports, attending meetings with partner organizations, etc.)
Education

Undergraduate student majoring in one or a combination of the following areas: Communications, business administration, or journalism, or equivalent experience. 

Qualifications

  • Must be extremely detail-oriented
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess the ability to see projects through to completion
  • Ability to work well both with others and independently
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a consistent manner

Social Media Internship

Position Summary

This is a part time position, requiring approximately 20 hours per week. The overall goal of the Events/Social Media Intern is to gain an understanding of event planning and promotion. This intern will contribute to promotion, enhancement, and protection of the Kurdish Alliance of North America brand reputation while learning social media, external communications, and selected PR techniques. This person creates, schedules, and manages social media content, including strategy content curation, and analysis, for platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and schedule social media content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn based on the Kurdish Alliance of North America Board strategy
  • Contribute and respond to engagement online via messages, comments and reviews
  • Monitor online reputation through various social media platforms and online review sites.
  • Deliver and post accurate content to promote Kurdish Alliance of North America programs and projects.
  • Fulfill all other duties as assigned (e.g., support of Development communications, project management, PR/media support, etc.)
Education
